..Ponding of water and rising water levels today...
...Moderate snow possible over portions of west and north central
Upper Michigan into tonight...
As an area of low pressure moves through Upper Michigan,
additional lighter precipitation will be moving back in behind
the system through tonight. This will lead to ponding of water in
low-lying and poor drainage areas as well as a rise in local
rivers and streams.
As the area of low pressure moves east of the area this
afternoon, rain will begin to change over to a wet snow across
western Upper Michigan and especially the higher terrain.
Moderate wet snow accumulation of several inches will be possible
tonight into early Monday over portions of western and north
central Upper Michigan, mainly from the higher terrain of the
Huron Mountains and Michigamme Highlands through Negaunee to Gwinn
and the Keweenaw Peninsula and Porcupine Mountains.
The public is urged to monitor local hydrologic responses and
keep watch for any localized flooding. Also, if planning any
travel into tonight be advised that roads could become snow
covered and slippery due to wet and slushy snow, especially over
the higher terrain of west and north central Upper Michigan.
