...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 AM
EST MONDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Light snow, mixed
with freezing rain into this evening will give way to a period
of heavy mixed precipitation late tonight into Sunday. The mixed
precipitation will transition to snow and blowing snow Sunday
afternoon through Sunday night. Total snow accumulations of 6 to
12 inches and ice accumulations up to three tenths of an inch
are expected. Strong northwest winds will develop Sunday with
gusts as high as 60 mph Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening
along Lake Superior. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected inland.
* WHERE...Alger, Luce and Northern Schoolcraft Counties.
* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 10 PM this evening
to 7 AM EST Monday. For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 10
PM EST this evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult to
impossible. Widespread blowing snow Sunday afternoon into Sunday
night will significantly reduce visibility with whiteout
conditions likely at times. Very strong winds could bring down
tree branches and result in power outages.
